Description of event The event is a celebration of 100 years of Columban Missionaries, an Roman catholic group which promotes justice peace, integrity of creation and dialogue. For more than 20 years Columbans have worked in Birmingham with a focus in promoting life-giving relationships among people of different faiths. They have also served asylum seekers and refugees through different projects and charities. At present they run Fatima house in Digbeth which has provided accommodation to 26 destitute asylum seeker women over the past 2 years. ( please see www.columbans.co.uk )
Inspired also by the 100 years of women’s vote this event will highlight the role of women of faith in the community. Four women of faith ( Muslim , Christian and Sikh background) will share their personal inspiration to serve others and how dialogue with others of different faith contributes to tackle common challenges. They will also participate in a discussion about the challenges face by women within/without their faith communities. The event will include cultural entertainment and will end with a buffet lunch.
