Call for ‘Chaplaincy’ Volunteers

During the current pandemic, people are in need of spiritual and/or pastoral support and are not associated
with a place of worship, they may approach Birmingham Council of Faiths for signposting to a place of
worship.

Under the current extreme circumstances, it may sometimes be difficult to put a person in touch
with an appropriate place of worship, so we are planning to have a number of ‘chaplaincy’ volunteers of
different faiths to assist in these situations. We may also need chaplaincy volunteers for the new Nightingale
Hospital. This will be assessed once the hospital becomes operational. Please contact me if you would like
to volunteer for these roles at pjrookes@gmail.com or text 077033 36088.

Prof Justin Varney, Director of Public Health and Brian Carr, CEO of Birmingham Voluntary Services Council, discussed our response to Covid 19 on our Connecting Communities programme on Unity FM Radio 93.5, co-hosted by Mahmooda Qureshi and Dr Peter Rookes.
